Educating an Industry

What is TRACS?

TRACS stands for the Training Academy for Community Schemes. We are a non-profit educational organisation that specialises in teaching Community Scheme related courses to property owners, residents, buyers and managers in South Africa.

Our main objective is to “educate an industry”.

If you are in the property space, you have likely heard of Sectional Title Solutions (Pty) Ltd (STS). STS is focused on providing value-add solutions to Community Schemes across South Africa. Solutions offered include innovative Funding and Treasury, Efficient Energy, Smart Technology, Legal Advisory, Outdoor Advertising, and a host of other service solutions. They have built and maintained a solid reputation within the industry, and with over 150 years of combined Community Scheme experience, the STS team thought it was time to share some of their knowledge with the public. It was through this drive to educate that the affiliate NPC TRACS was born. We may be new to the education industry, but we’ve been informally teaching South Africans about sectional title property since 2015.

"The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically.”

Mission

Our mission is to train, educate and upskill the entire Community Scheme industry in South Africa for FREE and in multiple languages. We want to do this so that people like you can make informed decisions about investing in property, but also so that we contribute to the growth and sustainability of our industry as a whole.

Vision

Our vision is to be the leader in Community Scheme education, and to build relationships and partnerships with prominent industry role players. We already see ourselves as fully equipped to offer expert advice and knowledge on all things Community Scheme, but we hope that in the near future, we can build sustainable partnerships with individuals and organisations that want to “educate an industry” alongside us.

Goals

Our main goal is to “educate an industry”. We plan to do this by continuing to invest our own time and resources into the creation and dissemination of educational content for all South Africans to access freely. Ultimately, we want you to succeed in your property endeavours so that the industry we love so dearly can continue to thrive.

We believe in education

As Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world.” It is with this sentiment that TRACS was created. Our aim is to “educate an industry”, which really means we want South Africans to have the necessary information to make sound and principled property decisions.

You might wonder why we have chosen to offer these courses for free and in multiple languages. The simple answer is that we believe all South African property owners, managers and investors have a fundamental right to this knowledge. It also means that by us sharing this knowledge and contributing to Community Scheme education, we are also contributing to the upliftment of our entire industry and country as a whole – something we feel very strongly about.

What makes TRACS unique is not only that our content is extremely niche and expertly created, but that we are truly passionate about Community Scheme education and have adapted to the growing need for online learning. This means we are constantly updating our content to ensure you receive only the most up-to-date and relevant course work and resources in your studies – all through a convenient online platform that can be accessed from anywhere, at any time.

When it comes to content, TRACS courses cover a variety of topics. From defining basic terms, like “special levies” and “common property”, to providing solutions for complex legal situations that may arise between property owners. Our courses have it all, and once completed, you will have gained the necessary knowledge to make more informed decisions in your property investments.

The Introductory Guide for Sectional Title Owners is the first course readily available to you, and is one of many courses we have planned. TRACS is currently working on several more courses, from an introductory course right through to an advanced course for Sectional Title owners, and a few additional courses too, that cover important topics such as financial rehabilitation for your Community Scheme. If you would like to find out more about our future courses, please contact us.

Feel you or your organisation would make a good partnership with TRACS?
